February’s can’t-miss design events

Along with an array of industry destinations making their yearly return, next month’s event roundup features a lineup that spans the globe. Read on for BOH’s monthly calendar highlights, including conferences, trade shows, showhouses and design discussions.

French Design 100 Festival
Online | Through February 20
This monthlong digital event honors the recipients of the French Design 100 award, which recognizes 100 designers for projects in furniture and decoration, and for spaces such as hotels, shops and restaurants that have increased the influence of French design in the world. Videos of the award-winning designers will be unveiled on social media through February 20th, as each answers a question posed by the festival’s guest of honor, Philippe Starck: “What effort would you envision to open up to the world?” For more info, click here.

NY NOW 2022
New York | February 6–9
The winter edition of this biannual gift show features a diverse assortment of products across 11 sections: accent on design (a collection of products utilizing materials in unconventional, problem-solving ways), accessories, artisan resource, baby and child, beauty and wellness, gift and stationary, handmade, global design, home design, luxury lifestyle and tabletop. Spanning more than 35 product categories, over 300 of the fair’s exhibitors feature 100 percent handcrafted products from makers based in the U.S. and around the globe. For more info, click here.

KBIS 2022
Orlando, Florida | February 8–10
Held in conjunction with the National Kitchen & Bath Association at the Orange County Convention Center, KBIS showcases the latest industry products, trends and technologies through an interactive platform as well as in-person offerings. Attendees can expect new products from leading kitchen and bath brands, immersive booth experiences, product demonstrations, panel discussions and access to the International Builders Show floor. Transatlántico
Mexico City | February 8–12
Coinciding with the citywide Zona Maco art and design fair, Galerie Philia presents an exhibition of sculptural design from the next generation of Latin American designers—a cohort that hails from Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Highlights include striking chairs made from native woods by designer Cristián Mohaded, geometric furniture and decorative objects by Breuer Estudio, and a new collection of floor and table lamps made from pure steel and brass by designer Manu Bañó. Intersect Palm Springs
Palm Springs, California, and Online | February 10–March 3
This boutique fair brings together more than 50 contemporary and modern art and design galleries for an exhibition of works available both in person and online through Artsy. Along with curated spaces and additional programming, this year’s “Focus on Form: Sculpture Garden” exhibition will greet visitors upon entry to the fair, featuring large-scale works by artists such as Stephanie Bachiero, Michael DeJong and Andy Dixon. Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville
Nashville, Tennessee | February 11–13
Over the course of this three-day event benefiting the Cheekwood and ECON charities, visitors can shop more than 150 antique and horticulture dealers and stroll four different gardens, and attend a series of lectures featuring figures from the worlds of entertaining, gardening and design. Highlights include a keynote lecture from Martha Stewart, a tour of designer Bunny Williams’ gardens, a discussion on the organizing business with The Home Edit and Gen Sohr, and the first in-person edition of LexTalk Live with Alexa Hampton in conversation with Jenn & Mike Gracie, Christopher Spitzmiller and Ashley Whittaker. Palm Springs Modernism Week 2022
Palm Springs, California | February 17–27
In celebration of midcentury modern design, architecture, art, fashion and culture, this annual event features more than 350 events designed to encourage education, preservation and sustainable modern living in the Palm Springs area. Attendees can take part in activities such as the modernism show and sale, signature home tours, architectural bus tours, lectures, and a variety of other parties, exhibitions and events.
